 Aluminium body repair requires specialized tools, techniques, and training due to aluminium’s unique properties — it’s lighter, doesn’t rust, and reacts differently to heat compared to steel. Begin by assessing the damage thoroughly. Aluminium panels often dent more easily but are harder to reshape, so replacement is sometimes more efficient than repair.

Use non-ferrous tools (aluminium hammers, dollies) to avoid cross-contamination with steel, which can cause galvanic corrosion. A dedicated aluminium work area is recommended to prevent contamination. For removing dents, techniques like glue pulling or heat shrinking (with controlled low heat) may be used, but overheating can weaken the metal.

If welding is required, use MIG welding with 100% argon gas and clean the surface thoroughly. Ensure welders are specifically rated for aluminium. For bonding, use OEM-approved adhesives and follow cure times precisely.

After repair, prime with etch or epoxy primer designed for aluminium to ensure proper adhesion and corrosion resistance. Always wear protective gear and follow manufacturer repair procedures.

Finally, aluminium repairs often require post-repair inspections to ensure structural integrity and safety compliance, especially for load-bearing parts. Proper training and equipment are critical — aluminium repair is not the same as steel and must be treated with expertise.
